Mother Earth

This week's homework assignment theme was EARTH DAY.
Here are some of the things we did to celebrate our green and blue home planet.
Is it a coincidence that Earth Day and Mother's Day are celebrated close to each other?  I think NOT!

These "litter bugs" are completely made out of things we can recycle.
(Can you tell which litter bug belongs to Kacia? ;o)

We planted some seeds, covered with brown earth, poured some water...
then decorated their pail with stickers, sang songs and danced around them to help them grow.

We wrote about WATER, and named one reason (out of a bajillion) why it is important not to waste it.

Look at the blossoming young students focussed on their homework projects... making mama so proud!
Happy Mother Earth Day where ever you are!

Dr. Seuss Week

The kindergarteners celebrated Dr. Seuss' 80th birthday by having a book inspired theme all week.  Here's what last week looked like for us:

Monday Cat in the Hat wear your craziest hat
Tuesday Fox in Socks wear your silliest socks
Wacky Wednesday wear your wackiest hair
Thursday Wocket in my Pocket bring something little in your pocket
Friday Green Eggs and Ham
(Parents signed waivers stating their child wasn't allergic to anything in this title.  Eww.)
and their first book report was due.

Here is Kacia's first book report.
Anakai's book report was Hop On Pop,
but I didn't snap a pic of her homework before she handed it in.
Oh well, next time.
But in the mean time, check this out!  Mrs. Obama reads "Green Eggs and Ham"

First Homework Assignment

Draw a picture that portrays the topic "Me and My Family".

Anakai's drawing
She explains, "Papa has loooong arms.  Kacia is with papa.  Anakai is with mama."

Kacia's drawing
Note that Kacia's lower case dot over her "i" = the dot underneath her eye.

Wait, there's more!  Answer these three questions.  Parents may help with writing.

1.  What does your child like to do?
Kacia - I like to swim.
     Anakai - Me too.

2.  How many brothers and sisters are in your family?
     K - I have three brothers.
Mama - No you don't!  You have one sister.  She's your twin sister.
     A - Noooo.
Mama - Yes you do!  You don't have any brothers.
     K - awww...
[Mama - shakes head into hand and moves on to the next question.]

3.  What type of work do Mom & Dad do?
A - Papa catches all the bad guys.
K - Papa's in the airplane (and the two of them stretch open their arms and 'fly' away.)
[Mama - elects not to chase them, and calls this assignment done.]
